DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 2016 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5 AND NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5 S. WHAT’S YOUR CHOICE?
Serving Florence, Darlington, and Sumter
Midsize cars constitute one of the most popular segments in the automotive industry. Many people like cars that are not too small, but not too big, either; and they appreciate the significant amount of features they come with. A prime example of a remarkable midsize vehicle is the Nissan Altima, which, despite fierce competition from more established automakers, has emerged as one of the most celebrated automobiles in this space. Nissan redesigned the Altima for its fifth generation of production in 2012. The 2016 model year continues from where the inaugural edition left off by employing a thorough facelift with new bumpers and exterior lighting, increased sound insulation, retuned transmission, revised suspension and steering, and new safety and infotainment options. At the base level is the Altima’s 2.5 and 2.5 S trims, which nevertheless still manage to represent the core attributes of the four-door sedan.
HOW DOES THE ALTIMA 2.5 AND 2.5 S PERFORM?
One thing that the 2016 Nissan Altima excels in is saving the amount of time and money you spend at the gas station. Both the 2.5 vs 2.5 S trims are so named because of the displacement of the engine: a 2.5-liter 16-valve four-cylinder engine with 182 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. The engine is hitched to Nissan’s Xtronic CVT, the automaker’s brand of Continuously Variable Transmission, which is unique for skipping gear shifting altogether to provide a smooth driving experience. The result is a powertrain that does not need to guzzle a lot of gas to get things going. At 27 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway, the 2016 Nissan Altima has some of the best fuel economy numbers in the midsize sedan segment.
HOW LARGE IS THE INTERIOR OF THE ALTIMA?
The 2016 Nissan Altima is also notable for its quiet, well-built, and exceptionally comfortable interior. With 101.9 cubic feet of passenger volume, the vehicle can accommodate up to five people and includes a lot of rear legroom. The 15.4 cubic feet of cargo volume provides ample luggage space, which can be expanded thanks to the 60/40 split-folding rear seats. And the interior in general is designed with enough sound insulation to give the cabin a hushed feel when at high speed or on the highway.
WHAT ARE THE TECHNOLOGY FEATURES?
Last but not least, the 2016 Nissan Altima is praised for its user-friendly infotainment controls. It is not too confusing to operate the stereo system, which, on the 2.5, is a four-speaker set-up that includes a CD player with MP3 and WMA playback capability, a Radio Data System, an auxiliary input for hooking up mobile devices for audio, Bluetooth for streaming music tracks, and illuminated steering wheel-mounted controls to eliminate the inconvenience of reaching for the dashboard head unit. For an upgrade, go with the 2.5 S, which adds two speakers, a 5-inch color monitor, a USB port for iPods and other compatible devices, and speed-sensitive volume control.
